There are two options to start using your business email hosting service with your domain name.
By using our nameservers
If you don’t have a web site yet and you are going to use your domain name just for e-mail services then you can set our nameservers to your domain. Then allow 24 hours for DNS propagation and your domain will start pointing to our server. All e-mails sent to e-mail addresses @yourdomain.com will be delivered to our mail server. To set the nameservers you need to login to the control panel of the company where you registered the domain name and change the nameservers from there. If you ordered the domain name together with the business email hosting service from us, the nameservers will be automatically set to the correct ones by us and you will not need to change anything in that regard. If the domain was registered from another company you will need to login to their control panel to do the nameservers changes.
By changing your MX record
If you have a web site hosted elsewhere or on a server with ScalaHosting but you want to have your emails served by our business email hosting solution then you will need to change the MX entry for your domain name. You can do so from cPanel. Once you login to cPanel click on the Zone Editor icon which is under the Domain section. Then follow the steps below.
- Remove the existing MX record
- Add a new MX record pointing to your new mail server. You can find the hostname of your new mail server in your welcome email with the login details for your business email hosting plan.
For Priority you can use 0 (zero) and for Destination use the hostname of your mail server from the welcome e-mail. Then click on the Add New Record button.
- After that change the Email Routing to Remote Mail Exchanger. This is very important.
Allow 4-6 hours for DNS changes to take effect.
If you activated SpamExperts for your business email hosting service it will protect your main domain and filter 99.96% of the SPAM messages with no extra configuration. That service is available for the SmallBiz and Corporate mail plans. In that case you need to add 2 MX records for your domain name.
mx1.vivawebhost.com with priority 10
mx2.vivawebhost.com with priority 20
To activate SpamExperts for your email hosting plan you need to login to cPanel and click on the SpamExperts icon. If you are using our nameservers the MX entries will be automatically configured for you. If you are using 3rd party nameservers you will need to configure them manually.
